Described as βman among men, heroic, civic-minded, practical, and universally well liked.β He married 11 OCT 1868 at Dixfield. Frank, at age 15, enlisted as a drummer boy during the Civil War. In 1873 JUL 13, he began putting together a scrapbook. In 1887, Frank Stanley was the telegraph operator. In 1884 he was elected Selectman. In 1887, Frank Stanley was the telegraph operator. Frank Stanley, postmaster at Dixfield, MEAlthough forever associated with Dixfield during his life, he spent twenty years residing in Canton, Roxbury, and Kingfield, Maine. He was a man among men, heroic, civic minded, practical, and universally well liked. At the time of his death on Wednesday, January 1, 1935, Franklin Stanley was Dixfield's oldest living Civil War Veteran. He had enlisted at the age of 15 (1863) as a Drummer boy.

Solomon Stanley, II lived in Kingfield, Maine. He was taken there by his uncle, Solomon Stanley, in 1813 after his mother, Hannah Fairbanks Stanley, died when he was 4 weeks old. He was given the name Solomon Stanley, II. He grew up in Kingfield and began teaching school at an early age. He was active in the town serving as selectman for many years. He was also County Commissioner for a considerable time and State Counselor in 1876, and served as Representative to the State legislature for two terms.
He was one of the first in town to sign the temperance pledge. He taught singing school and led the singing in church, sometimes playing on a bass viol, although there was some objection to that as being unfit for church music.
