The friends of his his youth were the friends of his age. One of his friends said to me, "Mr. Edmunds always stood up for the absent and accused—and never spoke unkindly of others, no, nor listened to it."
Deep was the grief of the children at the loss of their dear father—also the wife who for thirty-seven years had been with him in his joys and his sorrows. Servant thou hast gone to thy home where pain and sorrow shall no more come. Thy example shall speak for the religion of Jesus Christ, and thy humanity will long be remembered.
