Charles’ father, Captain Tristam Chase died at sea when Charles was a young boy and his mother remarried to Col. Jesse Stone. Charles accumulated a large fortune in trade as one of the first merchants in Dixfield and bought large amounts of real estate during his lifetime. He also improved a cranberry bog near his home. He kept a store where liquor was sold as free as molasses. Charles often sold liquor to men of poor families of which “ Aunt Cina” would stop on their way home to give them supplies from her own store. She said, “Mr. Chase, just as long as you dispense liquor to these men, just so long shall I dispense provisions.” On 15 JAN 1831, Charles was drafted as petit juror to the Court of Common Pleas at a meeting of the Selectmen, Town Clerk and Constable. Charles lived until 10 DEC 1875 at the age of 75.

1850 Dixfield census lists the three children, Walton, Dewitt and Charles. By the date of Louisa's death, it looks like she died when Charles was born.

Barney was a graduate of Tufts College. He married Evelyn Potts in 1913. They had a child in 1915, but neither wife nor child survived the birth. He married Eunice Crane in 1917. He worked for many years at a foundry in Boston. The foundry made parts for the railroads, which were necessary for the war effort. His job was secure and so the family was very well off and did not suffer from the effects of the Great Depression.
Albert and Eunice did a lot of genealogical research in their retirement years. Much of the information in these lineage lines are based on their research.
